Canon Timeline
1942 - J.M. Austen is born to Angela Brian Austen (née O'Shea) and Ronaldo Montage Austen.
1952 - J sees her first Marilyn Monroe movie, "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes," at 10 years old by spying down at the theater.
1955 - J's mother shoots her father because. Yeah. J is 13 at the time, and sent to an orphanage (location unknown) as her mother is arrested and then committed. For a year, she can't speak.
1956 - J breaks through the block keeping her from speaking, and (unrelatedly) is adopted by Ms. Callensburg at age 14, becoming J.S. Callensburg. She is brought to live and learn at a very religious school, Callensburg Gymnasium, in Pennsylvania. Not long after, she starts performing at Bar Alcoholic, wearing a dress and wig and singing Marilyn Monroe's songs. Pretty soon she's moved to be roommates with Paul Anderson, Ms. Callensburg's nephew and J's first real crush, in hopes that he'll curb her "delinquency."
January-February, 1959 - J, 16, meets Arther F. Justus and seeks him out to go work at his club, Club Blue Rapid, in New York City.
April, 1959 - At 17, J sees her first Marilyn Monroe movie in several years, "Some Like It Hot." She has a fight with Paul and leaves school to go to NYC with Arther, going back to using the name J.M. Austin and performing under the name Lady J.
January or February 1961 - When J is 19, Margaret "Rita" Barthelme collapses in the cold on the roadside in front of J's apartment building. J takes her in, and Rita quickly becomes her attendant. A bunch of shitty shit happens.
April 15th, 1961 - Rita and J have a bad fight. Edmont Clemens comes to interview J for the first issue of his magazine (which fails pretty quickly after things fall apart here). J and Rita have sex and Arther freaks out, prompting J to leave. She quickly disappears.
July, 1962 - Sometime during the month J is picked up for vagrancy. On July 16th she's sent to the Sing Sing Correctional Facility in Ossining, New York to serve 30 days, and her old school friend Andrew Morgan becomes her cellmate and protector there. She's 20-21 at this point.
August 4th, 1962 - A year and a half after the disasterous interview, Rita comes to Edmont to ask him for his help finding J, having given birth to her 6 month old daughter.
August 5th, 1962 - J hears the news of Marilyn Monroe committing suicide. Newly working at a law office, Paul Anderson is assigned J's case, and Rita and Edmont also seek him out in order to ask him if he knows where J is.
More August, 1962 - More things happen, a lot of emotional stuff comes to a head, blah de blah.
August 15th, 1962 - J is released from prison after serving her 30 days. She gets news that her mother has collapsed, and goes to visit.
August 16th, 1962 - J tries to visit her mother, and is turned away by her grandfather.
August 17th, 1962 - J meets her daughter, Jean, for the first time. Again, she is 20-21 at this point.
1980 - Jean goes to visit her mothers and introduce her fiancé. (They live somewhere in California? Maybe?) J, now 38-39, has successfully reconnected with her mother and is openly trans.
